McCracken & Lopez was incorporated in 1977 by Richard McCracken to provide mechanical and electrical consulting engineering services. The firm has grown steadily to reach its present size of 34 employees, including engineers of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and telecommunications systems design. The principals of the firm, Richard McCracken and Damaso Lopez, each take a direct role in every project, whether in establishing the design parameters, performing the actual design, or providing the quality control.

The strength of our firm is for those projects requiring very close collaboration between the owner, the architect and the engineer. Work is performed from one office located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This location is very convenient to I-77, I-85 and the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. Clients are located primarily in the southeast; however, projects range throughout the United States and have included work in two Mideast countries and Europe. We maintain an ongoing relationship with nationally recognized architectural firms located throughout the United States.

Our firm has been awarded an Owens Corning Energy Crystal and an Actual Specifying Engineering Award for the mechanical and electrical design for the Transit Facility in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.We were also awarded the Edwin F. Guth Memorial Award of Merit by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America for lighting design at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

The most significant awards, however, are represented by our success in continuing working relationships with our clients. Our client list includes Healthcare Facilities, High Technology Organizations, Universities and Colleges, Prominent Financial Institutions, Industrial and Corporate Clients, and numerous Governmental Agencies.
