UNC Charlotte’s New Center City Building McCracken Lopez, P.A. is privileged to be part of the design team for the new Center City Building in Uptown Charlotte. UNC Charlotte hired architectural firms Gantt Huberman and Kieran Timberlake to design this iconic 12-Story, 143,000 SF building.The new building is currently under construction and scheduled to open for classes in the Fall of 2011.The new building will better serve working professional with access to outstanding graduate education, while offering public access to the cafe, art gallery, the 300-seat public auditorium, and the110-seat public lecture hall. Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection and Electrical Systems Engineering provided by McCracken Lopez, P.A. The New Center City building is aiming for a LEED Silver Certification through the US Green Building Council. Names Three Vice Presidents CHARLOTTE, NC - McCracken & Lopez, P.A. is pleased to announce the appointments of three of its top professionals, Anthony Brandon, James Currie, and Kevin Richey, to Vice President. “Each of these individuals is dedicated and focused on the success of our clients and the projects they work with. They care about our clients, are progressive in their thinking towards industry trends, and have been important contributors to our success,” said Richard McCracken, President of McCracken & Lopez, P.A. Mr. Brandon joined McCracken & Lopez in 1990, and has designed many of the complex plumbing and fire protection systems associated with the firm’s laboratory, corporate, university, and hospital work. He is leading the company’s gray water reclamation design and research efforts, emphasizing strategies meeting the intent of Green Building design. Mr. Brandon is a Professional Engineer and is LEED Accredited. He is a graduate of Columbus State Community College in Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Currie, since coming to McCracken & Lopez in 2001, has dedicated his talents to the design of HVAC systems for state-of-the-art research facilities, university buildings, cultural arts, and corporate facilities, among others. Mr. Currie was graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. He has focused his efforts around the goal of sustainable and high performance design and uses the LEED process wherever feasible. Mr. Currie is a Professional Engineer and has LEED Accreditation. Mr. Richey, came to McCracken & Lopez in 1998 and has been an important contributor since that time. He has provided construction-related engineering project management and building commissioning for many of our complex projects and major clients. Mr. Richey is also responsible for commissioning administration and serves our clients who are seeking building systems commissioning. He is a LEED accredited professional with considerable training for his area of expertise, including the commissioning provider program at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. |
